Samsung Heat Pumps In Brief:
Samsung heat pumps are well-regarded, reliable and easy to use. They generally provide quiet operation, all-weather performance, and some models are capable of high-temperature output.
Samsung EHS air source heat pumps can be mated with third-party domestic hot water tanks or combined with a Samsung pre-plumbed ClimateHub tank solution to ensure warmth and hot water year round.
Samsung Heat Pump Specifications
Samsung is a respected manufacturer of heat pumps and mainly focuses its residential offering on its EHS (Ecological and Economical Heating System) series. This product range includes several unique models that have all been designed to address consumers’ needs for increased energy efficiency and a lower environmental footprint. By working at low flow temperatures, Samsung heat pumps are able to achieve high efficiency ratings even in cold weather.
There are three lines of Samsung EHS heat pumps, which have several different models.
EHS Mono
EHS Split
EHS TDM
Like competitors’ products, Samsung has a compact ‘Monobloc’ or mono single unit, and split heat pumps, where there are two main connected devices.
Samsung only offers a two-year warranty with its appliances, although many of its installers will offer a service contract to the customer.
EHS Mono R32 Heat Pump
The EHS Mono R32 Heat Pump is a single-unit (monobloc) air-to-water source heat pump designed for outdoor installation in both residential and commercial buildings. It comes in different models with an output of 9-16kw and is capable of reliably generating hot water temperatures of up to 65 °C.
It uses the environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant and has a wired remote control. It is rated as SCOP A+++, the top-class energy efficiency rating across the entire range of its operation. This model type will achieve a good heating performance using the modern R32 refrigerant.

EHS Mono HT Quiet R32 Heat Pump, 14.0kW
This range is an upgrade of the earlier basic EHS Mono. It has multiple outputs ranging from 8.0 kW, 12.0 kW, and 14.0 kW, giving users various options, depending on the size of the building they wish to heat.
It has outstanding performance, delivering output temperatures up to 70 °C. It was designed specifically to be very quiet and as unobtrusive in operation as possible, which is a considerable benefit in small homes where the heat pump cannot be secreted in a garage or utility room. By utilising a 4-step Quiet Mode, this heat pump can perform at noise levels as low as 35dBA2.
And of course, because these heat pumps use R32 refrigerant, it comes with the same low emissions and environmentally-friendly profile as the standard model.

EHS Split Heat Pump
This model is aimed at business applications or larger residences. As its name suggests, it consists of an indoor and outdoor unit that works together to generate 9 kW of power and is designed to be used for a range of purposes. This heat pump is compatible with underfloor heating, hot water, and radiator systems, and can even work with additional products like thermostats, solar panels, and backup boilers. It’s built for high performance in all-season use with the ability to cool at temperatures between 10 ℃ and 46 ℃ and heat in outdoor ambient temperatures as low as -25 ℃.
Thanks to a three-phase power supply, the EHS Split Standard enjoys a stable current that is less likely to fluctuate and cause operational disruption. This product is also reasonably quiet, having been built with a low-noise fan and Silent Mode that automatically engages at night. It is not as quiet as the Quiet model above, however.
As with the rest of the range, it uses the environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant.

EHS TDM Plus 16KW
This model offers integrated heating and cooling at a lower cost. The single outdoor unit can deliver both air-to-air and air-to-water heating; that is space heating or hot water to radiators, under-floor heating and sanitary water supplies. This cost-effective and eco-friendly technology is contained in one external unit, so it is ideal for locations where space is limited.
It has smart controls which can switch between air-to-water and air-to-air when needed. As there is just one unit to install, that will enable installation cost savings and a more efficient use of space.

Samsung Company Overview
A well-known big-name brand, Samsung originally started as a grocery store in South Korea in 1938 and has expanded to become a giant in home appliances and electronics. Its product range covers a huge number of industries from shipbuilding to home heating and cooling.
Although it has been in operation for many decades, Samsung was not considered a world-leading brand until the 1990s: its products were efficient and value for money but not considered very innovative. Lee Kun-Hee, the chairman of Samsung Group, then instituted an innovative “design-led” approach, which meant that the products took off, leaving many competitors standing. That ethos continues to this day.
The company grew to be one of the world’s largest and most diverse: it is one of the world leaders in mobile phones, even owning theme parks, advertising agencies and life insurance companies as well.
Samsung Heat Pump FAQs
How do you monitor a Samsung Heat Pump?
A: Users can monitor and control all their devices with the SmartThings app on a phone, tablet, smartwatch, Samsung TV and Fridge, or simply talk to these devices using Bixby, Alexa or Google.
Are heat pumps better than a new boiler?
According to a report by the Carbon Trust, heat pumps are a highly efficient form of electric heating that has the potential to deliver CO2 savings of 60-70% compared to conventional electric heating and 55-65% compared to an A-rated gas boiler. Their ability to operate at low temperatures and low noise levels make heat pumps a go-to heating option.
Can you add a heat pump to an existing building?
A: Heat pumps can be installed in almost any house or domestic property as their physical size is typically compact. However, it is advisable to have good insulation in a property, to allow the heat pump to work at its maximum efficiency and not lead to the electricity consumed being at too high a volume.
Samsung Heat Pump Summary
Samsung heat pump are generally excellent products and there are plenty of positive reviews for their heat pump range. However, some customers have commented in reviews regarding levels of noise, with some models being rated as noisier than other comparable heat pumps. There have also been questions over the availability of spare parts for their air source heat pumps.
Energy efficiency, lower running costs and environmental friendliness are high, in part because of the effectiveness of the R32 refrigerant. If this is a major deciding factor then perhaps a Samsung heat pump is the right choice for you over other manufacturers. Your choice may potential come down to price, in which case Samsung’s air source heat pumps are both a competitive and cost-effective option.
